Mike started studying Judo in the Uk in the early 1970's.
His career as a young competitive Judoka developed to a level where he won a national title and was regularly training with the regional and national squads.
He still competes in masters tournaments and represented Australia the following World masters Chamipionships.
2009 Germany, 2010 Hungary 2013 USA.
In 2012 he Won a Silver medal in the under 66kg catagory at the Commonwealth Judo Championships in Wales.
He has competed in and medaled in all the Australian masters games since 2009 and was the under 73kg Gold medalist in 2011.
His main attentions at the present are Coach education and Kata study. He visits both the UK and Japan each year to further his education in each of them respectfully.
He has represented Australia at the last three world championships, 2013 Kyoto (Japan) and 2014 Malaga (Spain) and 2015 Amsterdam (Netherlands) for Katame no Kata. His best results so far being 12th in Spain.
He has held National, Oceania and Masters titles for Katame no Kata and Kime no kata.

Coaching and Administration.
Holds European Judo Union (EJU) level 3 advanced coaching award. Currently studying EJU level 4 high performance award and degree in coaching at Anglia Ruskin University in UK.
Current NCAS co ordinator for NSW and is responsible for organising coach education courses in NSW.
He is a member of the NSW Kata coaching team and has been the kata team manager for the last two years fort he National championships. Each week he coaches at the state training centre with the other state coaches.
He has been a member of the Black Belt Registar (BBR) board since 2009 and has held the position of secretary since 2013.
